Death and Dining was part of a Within the Wheel a collection of performance installations drawing on concepts from the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Dining juxtaposed the insularity of earthly pleasures with the expanse of death and the bardo. The piece operated on a loop with three performers cycling through three different roles, while a forth (playing a cello-wielding butcher) provided musical accompaniment. Audiences observed the action from atop a bridge looking down with about 15-20 feet of air space between the audience and the performers below.
